I have been catching up on my news feeds this afternoon and found myself thinking about the latest Raspberry PIs going up to the International Space Station, click here to read for yourself.

Obviously they have tested and configured the PIs to be safe and completely energy efficient as well. But it struck me that they must have made the code for the experiments super efficient also.

A quick search around the NASA site and I found a code repository and some outstanding code for all sorts of interesting uses including;

  • a simulation framework to support research in autonomy for remote exploration

  • reusable artificial intelligence (AI) software system designed to assist spacecraft, life support systems, chemical plants, or other complex systems in operating robustly with minimal human supervision

  • a real-time, virtual acoustic-environment rendering system designed to study spatial hearing in environments such as concert halls, listening rooms, virtual reality, aviation spatial information displays, and video game sound effects

  • a modified version of an open-source, Web-based defect tracking tool called Bugzilla. Bugzilla allows software developers to document and track outstanding bugs in their products

  • ....and many more!
